RE-DISCOVERING ORIGINS

Re-DISCOVERING ORIGINS is a collection inspired by the native pagan festivals of Spain.

Re-DISCOVERING ORIGINS is a collection inspired by the native pagan festivals of Spain, in particular from the Murcia region, where I was born and raised, but also the Carnival of Lanz (Navarra), Jarramplas (Cáceres) and the Masquerades of Mecerreyes (Burgos), among many other places throughout Spain. I spent many days in these colourful celebrations when I was a child. I remembered the enchanting smell of incense and flowers that perfumed the air, the textures of the regional costumes, and the festive and pagan spirit. With this collection, I wanted to recover the traditional crafts and customs of the country, helping to preserve, advance, and welcome new cultures into our heritage. An essential aspect of my design philosophy is sourcing second-hand materials to avoid waste and contamination of the environment. Most fabrics come from second-hand markets and local families, where I found fantastic brocade tablecloths, duvet covers and bedspreads.
